Excellent:Fantastic Recommendations When You Have the Urge to Purchase a Notebook Computer

Sunday, May 31st, 2009

I was all set to go shopping and ready to buy a new laptop

The second I realized I actually didn’t understand what I needed to know involved with purchasing a computer. I contacted my high school pal Sue Becker who is an amazing computer expert for hints and tips. I was given amazingly good help and I am preparing to repeat it for you in hopes it will help you.

The first laptop buying tip was to avoid the temptation to buy a notebook at a brick and mortar shop. I know you may believe you need the assistance of an electronics location employee but you actually don’t. As a matter of fact the employees they have working at those stores know almost zilch about notebooks. You could be better off with no laptop advice. Your best decision is to shop for your notebook computer on the Internet. You almost always achieve the best bargain and the best array of models with online notebook shopping.

After that I was advised to decide whether I cared about the weight of the computer. If it is solely being used in one place and not going on trips with you there is no requirement to invest the extra dough to have a light weight laptop computer. A larger notebook computer would work out fine. If it is merely staying at your house fits the bill you can get a lot more precessing power for your money. A heavy and power hungry laptop is often called a desktop replacement.

But, if you will be doing heavy traveling with the portable computer size and weight is a definite aspect to consider. You don’t burdened by lugging around eight pounds of powerful laptop computer stuff everywhere you go. There are many thin and easy to carry laptop computers available at affordable prices. You simply need to select the make and the color you need as well as how much precessing power you want in your notebook computer.

Tinnitus From Noise – Eradicate Ringing Ears

Tinnitus From Noise

If you are suffering from tinnitus you could have tried to live with it and endure the ringing ears. It is only when it begins to deterioriate that you realise you must do something to take action to stop it as the strain it causes starts to affect you physically. Most people make an appointment with their doctor when they first experience this noise. Hoping for a solution to the ear ringing.

Doctors just do not stop it though and you end up being prescribed one drugs after another, with the same result. No relief. Doctors often instantly pinpoint the reason for tinnitus as exposure to loud noise. Taking steps to duck this noise is the smartest thing you can do with a lack of doctors helping you to stop it.

If you work in a noisy environment acting to cut back the noise is vital. This means staying as far distant as you can from the source of the noise. Taking frequent breaks to let your ears recover and wearing earplugs.

Wearing any ear protection will reduce the hazards of hearing damage and prevent triggering ringing ears. If you are already suffering from tinnitus taking these steps will reduce further damage and reduce the effects. It won’t stop it though. Many folks are now turning to homoeopathic remedies to stop the buzzing in the ears and they do work.

In most cases they reduce the noise and occasionally stop it completely. If you’re looking for a treatment for tinnitus follow the same remedy that I used to heal ringing ears. This is guaranteed to stop the ringing in your ears and give you your life back.

The opinions expressed here are the authors. No medical advice is meant or implied. As with any condition it is best to consult a doctor before taking any medical advice.

Google Home Page Review

Sunday, May 31st, 2009

Google, Google, Google that is all you ever seem to see on the Internet these days and there is a reason why. It has the largest directory of just about any and every site that can be found. Try it, go to a Google search engine and see if there is something you cannot find! That is a tongue twister, sorry. (wink)

Google homepage UK is the search engine I use for everything. Forget about Yahoo! You have to pay for stuff with them while Google offers nearly everything for free. Want to build your own web site and don’t have any money? Google will give it to you for free. You may not have noticed it yet, but if you look in the upper right corner of your Google homepage depending on your computer settings, it will say “iGoogle” and “sign in”. It won’t give one way backlinks though, but that’s pretty much the only limitation.

If you do not have an account, after clicking sign in you can register for a new account and then up where you signed in, click the “my account” button. From there you can set your profile up and at the bottom you should see a list of stuff to try. Want your own blogger account, get it there. Get webmaster tool, analytics, Gmail, sites, Picasa web photo album etc…

It basically has everything you could possibly need to either build your own web site, get in touch with other people with Talk (Google instant messenger) and even have online meetings with Google Docs… again it is all for free. I am a full on Googleholic! I get my news updates from CNN, weather alerts, Einstein quote of the day, Bible verse of the day, Things to ponder, current moon phases, a clock (lol) and Google translator. C’mon, I even get to customize the theme on my homepage. Right now I am using the “rainforest theme”.

Besides Google being the top search engine on any web browser, it also makes making money on the internet easy. Sign up for Google Adsense. From everything thing that I have tried Adsense actually pays and then they give you suggestions on how to make your web site better and get more traffic which translates to more money. They offer so much that it is hard to turn away.

Now personally, Google if you are reading this sorry, I am loyal but there are some things I think could be better. Like Gmail. I don’t really like Gmail and the instant messenger is weak because you can’t use a webcam. Other than that it is definitely the best search engine in the world and I don’t think I am exaggerating.

Before I switched to using iGoogle my internet use pretty much consisted of checking my mail and I don’t remember what I use to use as my search engine but I do know that my internet use has increased and I have even become my own webmaster and I did it all for free, well… accept for the stuff I would bump into that I found on the web that I couldn’t resist. Let’s face it… I think Google even put a tracker in my head because I think they know me better than I know myself. This is why Google is so successful.

We are all Salespeople

Saturday, May 30th, 2009

“I can’t sell”, I hear you say. Nonsense, everybody can sell. If you ever got hired, sold your car or sold yourself to another person (ie. got married or formed a relationship), you have proven your ability to sell. We sell ideas to other people all the time, we just don’t see it as selling.

The role of a sales person is to find out what the prospect wants rather than whether the customer wants something at all. Once this is done, a sales professional should then help the customer fill that need to the customers’ satisfaction. The principle skills a winning sales person needs are:

* Putting your customers in a acceptance state of mind, making them feel at ease and unpressured.

* Showing interest in their questions or problems.

* Using opinions as selling points (both yours and theirs).

* Supplying facts and helpful information.

* Answering objections in a positive way and never becoming defensive or aggressive.

* Seeing things from the customer’s point of view.

* Suggesting additional merchandise or services.(Value adding)

* Building repeat business.

It’s important that you learn to apply these skills, although if you apply courtesy, friendliness, honesty and you know what you’re talking about, you’re 90% there. Not very hard when you think about it.

I know of quite a few small business people who would never consider themselves sales people but have remarkable success at selling their offers by just being themselves. Is this being a good sales person? Probably.

An old friend of mine, Steve owns a tyre franchise in one of Sydney’s trendier suburbs. He spent many years of his life working for the ADF. It never ceases to amaze me, and his business partner, how this “untrained” person can sell products by just being himself. He is a natural salesman.

On the days he looks after the business instead of his partner, the numbers are always up compared to when he’s not there. If you were to ask him if he thought he was a good salesman he would probably say no, but the sales figures speak for themselves.

He does it by being a friendly, nice person that loves a joke and a talk with his customers. Most of his customers would never go elsewhere because they like him. I’m sure even if he put his prices up, he would still attract the same clients because they have a rapport with him. They feel good about shopping at his store; he makes sure they do. Everybody can sell, simply use your own personality and be friendly and courteous. Treat customers the way you would like to be treated.

Top sales people make a point of remembering regular customers’ names, ensuring each time they come to the store they receive a small discount or offering other little extras like helping them to the car with their parcels. As I mentioned before with my friend, he fosters friendships with his regular customers. This fosters loyalty to the business by the customer, quite often regardless of price, because they get preferential treatment. You’ve probably had the feeling yourself when you constantly use a particular business and each time you walk in the people don’t just ask for the order.

Generally, sales people feel awkward about asking the customer for the order. These sales people will never be really successful in sales. A lot of sales are lost simply because the sales person doesn’t put the onus back on the customer to make a decision, they simply leave the decision up in the air which allows the potential customer to quietly move out the door without having to commit themselves to a decision. How many times do you do this? I do it all the time and think to myself, “I’m glad nobody put me under pressure, I probably would have spent money”.

Cisco Systems Is Starting a Push Into Video Conferencing with Telepresense

Saturday, May 30th, 2009

Cisco Systems, the dominant provider of the digital pipes that run the Internet, is making a big play in digital entertainment. At the Consumer Electronics Show in January in Las Vegas, it plans to introduce a new line of products, including a digital stereo system that is meant to move music wirelessly around a house.

That is the first small move in a long-term strategy to take on Apple, Sony and the other giants of consumer electronics. Cisco is working on other gadgets that will let people watch Internet video on their televisions more easily. And its biggest bet is that people will want to use a version of its corporate videoconferencing system called Telepresence to chat with their friends over their high-definition televisions.

The company has been talking about reaching out to consumers for years. At the same show two years ago, John T. Chambers, the company’s chief executive, laid out a strategy for building networks for entertainment in the home. At the show last year, it promised new technology that would help media companies publish more video that could be watched on these home networks. But after delays, changes in plans and the assignment of a new executive to oversee all this, Cisco now says the first of its products will hit the shelves, and the video sites will be on the Web, in January.

While Cisco is a newcomer to the consumer electronics business, the company says that after years of promises by the industry, consumer electronics is only now taking advantage of broadband Internet connections and home networks.

“This holiday the vast majority of consumer electronics purchases will be connected,” said Ned Hooper, a Cisco senior vice president, in an interview before Christmas. Mr. Hooper was put in charge of the consumer electronics push a year ago. Many music players, digital cameras, game consoles, Blu-ray players and a variety of set-top boxes connect to the Internet directly or by way of a computer.

Although they are digital, most of the high-definition televisions sold so far do not have Internet connections. But Mr. Hooper argues that televisions soon will also be connected to home networks and the Internet.

“We are all making this investment in high-definition television, but all we are doing with them is watching TV the same way,” Mr. Hooper said. “They can actually provide all sorts of experiences, whether it is viewing family photos or connecting to the Internet to watch video.”

Cisco can draw on much of its existing business line to help build its home electronics products. It is the leading maker of routers and switches, the devices that act as the traffic lights of the Internet in connecting one computer to another. In 2005, it bought Scientific Atlanta, one of the leading makers of equipment for cable TV systems. And Linksys, which it bought in 2003, is the top seller of devices used to set up wireless and wired networks in homes and small businesses.

Sales directly to consumers represented only 2 percent of Cisco’s $40 billion in sales in its most recent fiscal year. But the company is counting on home entertainment, along with Scientific Atlanta and some other new initiatives the company calls “advanced technology,” to provide much of its growth.

Despite Cisco’s dominance of the corporate market and its $27 billion in cash, it faces a number of challenges as it tries to find a place in the home. The Cisco brand is not associated with consumer electronics. The company runs fast-paced commercials with the slogan, “Welcome to the human network,” but it is not particularly clear what Cisco is offering to consumers.

“I don’t think that when they hear the name Cisco they think of great products in consumer electronics,” said John MacFarlane, the chief executive of Sonos, which already makes systems that send music around the house wirelessly.

With the exception of Apple, other computer companies have not had much success in consumer electronics. Dell and Gateway have been in and out of the television and music player business. Hewlett-Packard is still trying to sell computers, servers and set-top boxes designed to move video around the home, but it, too, has dropped out of the television business. Intel, the computer chip maker, abandoned its Viiv brand of processors for media center computers after consumers gave the cold shoulder to the devices, which had been promoted as the key to moving content around their houses.

Mr. Hooper says Cisco has no interest in selling televisions. It will continue to make set-top boxes that bring in programs from cable and the Internet, but it assumes that eventually all televisions will simply connect directly to home networks.

Consumers, however, have not been all that interested in set-top boxes, despite many offerings from companies including TiVo, Vudu and Roku. The most successful has been the Apple TV, which can be used to watch downloaded movies and television programs, but it is still what Steven P. Jobs, Apple’s chief executive, called a “hobby” rather than a business like the iPod or the iPhone.

It is not so clear to consumers why they would need to get online video on their TVs when they have hundreds of channels and increasingly thousands of video-on-demand choices from their cable systems. “Consumers are reluctant to pay for another service and find a home for another box in their living rooms to duplicate much of the content they already get from cable,” said Ross Rubin, a consumer electronics analyst with the NPD Group.

While Cisco is building out its line of consumer electronics products to sell directly to consumers, it has other ways to profit from the growth of home networks. Its Scientific Atlanta unit sells set-top boxes through pay-TV companies, such as a video recorder offered as part of AT&T’s Uverse television service. It is splitting ad revenue with the media companies for which it runs Web sites. And it wants to develop video conferencing technology with which Internet providers and media companies can sell new Internet-based services for a monthly fee. One example would let people store music and video on the Internet, rather than on discs or their own hard drives, so they could get access to it anywhere.

“Today your content is very tightly tied to a device,” Mr. Hooper said. “Your music is tied to your iPod. Your games are tied to your PlayStation.” Cisco is pressing media companies to change their business models to sell more flexible digital rights to their content. “If I forgot to sync my iPod before I left home, I can connect in my hotel room,” said Mr. Hooper.

Ultimately, Mr. Hooper said, the company expects to make the most money by offering home video conferencing. Today, Cisco is making a major effort to sell Telepresence rooms to corporations for $40,000 to $300,000 each. These have big high definition TV and a fancy audio system on each end, connected by a high-speed Internet connection, meant to simulate face-to-face meetings.

Cisco envisions bringing a cheaper version to consumers in the next year or two. Consumers would place a small camera next to a television to chat with friends and relatives from their family room couches. Cisco is trying to develop standards that would make placing a video call as easy as dialing a phone number and that would allow the recipients to see notices of incoming calls on their televisions.

Mr. Hooper said this technology would be so much better than the current Webcam-on-a-PC video chat systems that users would be willing to pay their cable companies a monthly fee for it. “Once you can go to full HD quality, with simple setup and high-quality experience, it tips the balance,” Mr. Hooper said.

For Cisco, however, the biggest profit still may not be in the gadgets, but in the plumbing. Video is by far the biggest user of bandwidth and as more people use the Web to watch programs, networks will be forced to buy more routers, switches and equipment.

Vibrant Hong Kong

Friday, May 29th, 2009

Hong Kong greets visitors from all over the world with a grin. The urban embodiment of the balancing act between Chinese and European cultures, Hong Kong has long been one of the most vibrant cities on earth.

Few travel to Hong Kong for the sights; they come for business and excitement. Hong Kong is so lively it sizzles like the oil in the woks of its ubiquitous street food vendors. Little has changed since the 1997 return of the British colony of Hong Kong to China. The city that flourished through co-operation between the Chinese and British societies is, if anything, more fascinating and interesting than ever before.

Opium highs and lows

In the early eighteenth century, the first British merchants to arrive at what would be Hong Kong, found only a few fishing huts. Hong Kong had no significance at all within the Chinese Empire and had been ignored for centuries.

The British built a trade port here in 1711, and it thrived during the early nineteenth century when goods from China were in vogue in Europe.

As the fashion for things Chinese declined the British began to deal in opium instead, harvesting it in India and importing it illegally into China, where the Qing dynasty emperor had banned its sale. When the Chinese tried to halt the imports, the British responded with violence.

The resulting Opium Wars (1838-1856) were devastating for China. In 1842, the British took control of the city of Hong Kong and it became a British colony. A 1898 pact with China made Hong Kong and 234 nearby islands a British protectorate for ninety-nine years. The treaty expired in 1997.

Negotiations took place in 1982 to modify the original agreement in order to protect Hong Kong’s special status. China had originally demanded control not only of the so-called “New Territories” around the city, but also of Hong Kong itself. Through a series of agreements and concessions, Great Britain was able to prevent Hong Kong from being directly absorbed into mainland China. Instead, on 1 July 1997, Hong Kong was declared a Chinese Special Administrative Region.

Skyscrapers and feng shui

Hong Kong’s special status has allowed it to remain a modern economic hub. Despite its visible modernity, traditional ways of life are never forgotten. The ancient Chinese art of feng shui is still used with new constructions, where measurements are configured according to lucky numbers and windows positioned so as to let prosperity in and bad luck out.

Skyscrapers loom where splendid colonial buildings once stood, only a few of which have remained. In the central district, the Cathedral of St. John, the former French Residence and the Legislative Council Building are among the few traditional buildings that remain.

Omnipresent Buddha

Traditional life is a stronger presence in the New Territories than in the city itself. Beautiful temple complexes are everywhere, built in traditional style in tranquil settings. 10,000 Buddhas Monastery is one of the most frequented. This number represents “very many” or “countless” in Chinese, rather than a specific number of Buddhas.

In fact, there are more than 10,000, perhaps as many as 13,000. The enormous bronze Buddha towering above Lo Pin Monastery on the island of Lantau is the largest Buddha in the world, measuring 26 metres tall. Visitors can climb a steep path of 260 steps to reach it. The panoramic view from the top definitely rewards the effort, as does the spiritual enlightenment achieved along the way.

RentinNerja Changes Name To RentIn-Nerja

Friday, May 29th, 2009

As the SEO specialist for the RentIn Group I am responsible for the smooth operation of Search Engine Marketing and natural rankings within the search engines !  Under normal circumstances the development of the Apartment Rentals / Villa Rentals sites for locations across Spain is generally business as usual, yet the original Nerja site needs a slight name change to fit in with the other websites representing areas such as Mijas, Marbella and Javea.

Now this is a worrying time!  The transfer of content etc is not the problem, its keeping the visitor traffic from the search engines coming to the site which presents the problem when changing domain names.  Why? . . . because all of the links already listed by Google are all pointing to the old domain name, which provides the “authority” count for Google as part of its valuation on how important the site is compared to every other site on the same subject.  So the question for me is how do I go about transferring all of this good ‘authority’ indexed by Google – over to the new domain and avoid loosing our position within Googles Search Results.

Clearly there’s a lot of links within Blogs, reviews and forums where folk have referenced the Nerja Villa Rentals web site and there’s very little chance of getting those links changed, so we run the risk of losing the “link juice” from most of them.  Thankfully we are holding onto the original domain and and there’s what is called a permanent redirect (code 301) that we can set on the original domains server which informs the search engines, when they follow the original links to the original site, that there is a new location for the content of the page and this new location for the Nerja Villa Rentals will be updated over time within the search engines and the transfer of most of the “authority” value of a site should move over to the new domain.

Google’s Matt Cutts mentioned in his blog that its a good idea to leave up the 301 redirections on the old domain for at least 18months…   clearly because there’s not guarantee that Google will cover the whole of the inbound links/web pages of a sight within a shorter period of time.  Of course, this means continuing to pay the domain and hosting fees of the old domain along with the new domain.  However, under the circumstances and the importance of maintaining a decent position within Google for Nerja Accommodation Rental then we have no other option.

Guidelines For The Right Maintenance of Your Pools

Thursday, May 28th, 2009

Constructing a swimming pool is often an option that most people would love having in the homes and for majority of people who have swimming pools such as fiberglass pools, owning a pool is only half of the concern, maintenance of the pool is another matter. Pool maintaining is a task majority of us would rather avoid however good maintenance of the pool could save you a lot of trouble and allows pool owners take pleasure in what their pool has to offer. In order to keep these pools in good condition, owners will have to be acquainted with specific maintenance process and get proper maintenance supplies from trusted stores and merchants.

Some pools are not assembled in your home when you buy them; these pools are made in the factory beforehand and delivered after they are finished, to your home. The kind of pools are mostly inground pools and the space where you can place them in will have to be excavated before they are purchased and the following installation in your house. Unlike other types of swimming pools, these pools are installed without taking too much time.

Some pools are known to be a chore to maintain. People who wants to prevent such hassles might consider hiring experts to perform the task of pool cleaning but still it does not exempt them from various pool maintenance requirements that requires to be performed regularly. Items such as pool skimmers needs to be purchased in order to prevent debris from accumulating in your pool and making it an unwelcome location to swim in, you will also need items like pool filters.

Merchants of such items will usually endeavor to enlighten the buyers on the subject of differences between pool supplies for the various pools in question, however when this information is not explicitly provided means that you can always ask the vendor how to provide the necessary requirements and specify the nature of the pool he owns.

Luckily, getting swimming pool liners of top notch quality and at an affordable price is not really difficulty for those who makes the extra effort to make the right choices when it comes to their selections and the right sources to buy from.
